Break Away from Your Busy Schedule with a Performance by the Elias String Quartet Concert

With the 2018-19 season underway, Da Camera explores the multiple ways in which the present and future are informed by the past. In both chamber music and jazz, there is an ongoing dialogue with the great composers and performers who came before us and serve as inspiration.

The internationally acclaimed Elias String Quartet is returning to Houston with two distinct programs. Over two nights, the Elias Quartet will trace the history of British music from Purcell to Britten to esteemed contemporary composer Sally Beamish. Anchoring their programs are two great masterpieces by Schubert and Schumann.

On March 18th, the performance will include Fantasias by 17th-century English composer Henry Purcell and Quartet No. 2 in C Major, Op. 36 by 20th century composer, conductor and pianist Edward Benjamin Britten, along with String Quartet in A Minor, D. 804, “Rosamunde” by Franz Schubert.

On March 19th, the performance will include the U.S. premiere of String Quartet No. 4 “Nine Fragments,” a newly commissioned work by esteemed contemporary British composer Sally Beamish, along with a selection of Scottish folk songs and String Quartet No. 1 in A Minor, Op. 41 No. 1 by Robert Schumann.

Tickets are $60 and can be purchased online at https://www.dacamera.com. We encourage you to set some time aside while you can to enjoy two nights worth attending!
