Celebrate the 100th Birthday of Baseball Legend, Jackie Robison, by Attending This Event

Founded in 1975, Main Street Theater produces innovative, thought-provoking plays for adults and children, and theater arts education/integration programs tailored to the needs of each school and community partner. We celebrate the human experience and spark open-minded conversations between the artists and the audience. We strive to create moments that allow for genuine connection between community members, visitors from outside of Houston, and our artists.

We are committed to sharing compelling, thought-provoking and engaging stories from the most insightful and articulate writers for the stage – and to making our productions accessible to any and all who wish to take part. Main Street Theater’s three core activities – MainStage, Theater for Youth, and Education Department activities for children and teens – all share the goal of providing as many opportunities as possible for the enrichment and engagement of Houstonians of all ages.

Main Street Theater is celebrating Jackie Robinson’s 100th birthday, his breaking of barriers, and his impact on the civil rights movement with the powerful play Jackie and Me, based on the modern classic of the same title by Dan Gutman.

During Jackie and Me, Young Joey Stoshack has the special power to travel through time, so when he’s given an assignment to write a paper about a famous African-American, he chooses Jackie Robinson and heads back to 1947 to meet the man himself. Through his adventures, Joey witnesses first-hand Jackie smashing the barriers.

This play is recommended for 5th Grade and up. Children under the age of 3 (including sleeping babies) are not allowed in the theater. Please note that no outside food or snacks are allowed at the MATCH. You may purchase concessions at the show.

Tickets are $16-$24 and may be purchased online at www.mainstreettheater.com, at the Advance Box Office, or charge by phone by calling 713-524-6706.

At Riverwalk Apartments in Houston, Texas, we believe it’s important to integrate yourself into the community, which is why we suggest attending this event. Meeting new people, having unfamiliar experiences, and joining neighborhood activities is the key to an exceptional lifestyle.
