You Can Fill Your Weekend with Color, Patterns, and Motion, Thanks to GUST

Celebrating a Decade of Discovery is an interactive art installation created by Cocolab, a Mexico City-based studio for the Discovery Green Conservancy. GUST is a public art project that uses an array of 1600 handmade pinwheel to visualize the invisible patterns of the wind and to activate Brown Promenade with vivid color and subtle motion.

Inspired by simple celebrations of community, and by folk traditions of hand-made art, GUST aims to provide a joyful gathering place for people to come together, to feel and see the breeze, and to play. Intended to be playful and interactive, GUST also invites you to ´be the wind´ and make the pinwheels turn and spin yourself.

There are four stations where you can play with the art. Each one has a single pinwheel on top of it, and if you blow it you will activate a powerful fan which will spin all the pinwheels in front of it. At night, the installation is illuminated by patterns of light, which respond in real-time to the changing direction of the breeze.

Discovery Green fulfills its mission by offering continuous programming, attracting a diverse crowd, and maintaining a beautiful park. Come see what creations are on display this weekend!
