The Asia Society Brings the Captivating Story to Life Onstage

Experience the captivating musical performance of Asia: The Forgotten Empress at the Asia Society of Texas! Starring the talented international Kathak artist Farah Yasmeen Shaikh, this show presents an incredible story in a breathtaking and creative production that you can see live on Friday, April 20th.

Combining South Asian classical dance, live music, multi-media, and theater, The Forgotten Empress is a dynamic dance drama based on the life of Empress Noor Jahan. The performance will explore her influence in 16th century Mughal India, and how she maintained power in a male-dominated empire, only to be almost forgotten in the latter years of her life and in death. It is a powerful tale of hardship and triumph that will come to life onstage, so come watch the acclaimed Kathak artist Farah Yasmeen Shaikh, director Matthew Spangler, and musical director Salar Nader, along with their team of world-class musicians and actors, as they deliver the spectrum of emotions, relationships, and events surrounding this powerful woman who made history!
